www.lazyreaders.com

From the site's founder, Dr. Danny Brassell:

Welcome to the Lazy Readers' Book Club, your reading time manager!

This is where you go when you want to read quality books that don't take years to finish. My mission is to increase interest in reading by providing cool, short book recommendations for all ages. From interest comes devotion.

As teachers, parents or whatever state we find ourselves in, we often cannot find time to read for fun, and I think it is important that our children see us reading for pleasure. Therefore, each month I provide book recommendations that are quick and easy to read for personal pleasure. I try not to include any books over 250 pages, and I always include books written for a variety of ages (don't be shy about reading kids' books, though; they are my favorites because they generally have shorter chapters, bigger print and colorful pictures).

In the Classroom:
Use this site to encourage reluctant readers to choose their own short books with subjects that interest them! For children who can't choose, encourage them to use the "Random Shuffle" feature. Share the link on your teacher web page for students and parents to access from home.

Seminar in Austin, TX
by: Cynthia Tassos Phillips

Dear Dr. Brassell and all Educators,

If you are a new educator please read this! You may want to stay in the profession more than 5 years after reading some of Dr. Brassells' books or hearing him speak.

This is my 30th year in education, not only in the classroom but with state and federal positions.
After retiring 7 years ago I was asked to teach in a wonderful private school in Austin, TX.

After ending the school year and knowing we had to take our summer professional development my teammate and I decided to go to the SDE(Staff Development for Educators)8th Annual Conference on June 9 and 10, 2008 in Austin, TX.

They offered this workshop and you can imagine after going to quite a few, conducting them and sitting on panels my thought was....let's get it done and enjoy the summer.

Besides hearing Dr. G. Reid Lyon speak for the first time many years ago I have never been so excited about my vocation....teaching.

Dr. Brassell you are a gift to all of us and you will be remembered as "one of those teachers" who made a difference in my life. I'm 60 years old and so excited about life back in the classroom!
Thank you for lighting that fire again....I don't think it ever went out! You just threw in the right fuel!

Now I'm off to hear you again all day...can't wait.

Bless you.
Cindy

South Bay Adult School Parent Talk
by: Susan Robinson

I loved your talk on Tuesday night. I listened intently and did not take notes, as you suggested. I would love to have the notes and the recommended book lists. Thank you. Susan

Love it, love it, love it!
by: Mrs. Mikesell

I love this site because it does everything for me. I don't have to take the time to keep up to date on the newest or best books!

I was lucky enough to see Danny Brassell at the Florida Kindergarten Teacher Conference in Orlando, and it was just amazing. He's energetic, fun and smart.

Thank you for this great site and being an inspiration to teachers!

Kelly :)
