The Little House

by Bettye Jo Watson
(Thorndale, TX)

This is a very old book by Virginia Lee Burton.

It is about a little house that is in the country and wished to know what the city is like.

Slowly over time, the city moves closer and eventually is all around the little house.

Many years later it is spotted by the great, great, great grand-daughter of the man that built her and is moved to a new spot in the country.

The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and the story is beautiful.

I have always enjoyed teaching with this book and have used it to teach seasons, change, timeline, compare and contrast and many other lessons that are part of our Kindergarten requirements.

It also lends itself to many art type activities and family projects that the children really enjoy.

It truly is my favorite book of all time.
