Student Folders

Years ago, our Pre-K teachers put together folders for the students to take home and to school each day. I am now teaching kindergarten but still use the same system and it works so well.

Folder: Plastic two pocket, 3 prong folder

The front pocket is labeled "NOTES". The is for notes I send home or for notes parents send to me. (lunch money, transportation notes, absence notes, etc.)

The back pocket is for take home books.

In the prongs stay: a copy of school handbook, policies, etc. A blank book list is the last page that is used for parents to write down the books they read at home with their child. Hole punch that page on the right side so that the page faces the back pocket.

The students get the folders out as they arrive in the morning so that I can check the NOTES folders. They also choose another book as part of their morning routine.

I like that idea and was contemplating trying something like this, now I know that it works. Thanks
