Sticker Stories

by Renee Olivarez
(La Vernia, Texas)

Sticker Stories is a writing center that is a lot of fun for the students and very easy to prepare.

All you need are holiday or themed stickers and notebook paper.

I put one sticker at the top of a page of notebook paper and place enough pages for each student to have one sheet into large envelope or file folder with the directions on the front.

The student takes one paper and uses the sticker as the writing prompt.

You can use stickers at the top of blank or lined paper or a graphic organizer.

After the kids have a sloppy copy or first draft, they leave it in a box or tray for the Editor's Corner which will be a center for the next week.

At this center, the students edit another student's sloppy copy for a specific grammar focus.

You can use Halloween stickers and use purple and orange gel pens or use highlighters for illuminating verbs.

It is a fast, flexible, inexpensive center.
