So many kids, so many levels, so little time!

by Amy
(ISU)

Hi! I just love this site and I am so excited that there are resources like this for teachers!

I am in my Jr. year of college and doing some of my classroom work and it is really making me think about how I am going to handle my own classroom once I graduate.

I have loved my reading classes so far, but trying to apply what I am learning seems so far away from the real classroom!

With so many readers at so many levels of ability what are some reading group strategies that you use in your classrooms?!

I really want to be able to reach as many students on an individual level as possible without "labeling" kids as high and low - I have seen teachers use color groups, but the kids still know which kids are suppose to be the smart group.

Does mixing reading groups help at all? What have you seen or tried that really works?!

Thanks,
Amy
