Second grade Daily 5

by Tina Parent

I bought the Daily Five book last summer, read it, and sticky noted it everywhere in the book.

My second graders loved the fact that they were "teachers" when it came to reading with a partner.

I made each student a check mark to hold up when retelling what was read by their partner.

I really think The Daily Five has it right!

Now when I make posters I ask students for suggestions and comments and put their name next to it, they feel ownership and really make sure they do what they said they would (what our class will look like when we are writing, reading, etc).

Great idea!

I really like your idea of putting the student's names by their ideas. Then they feel like classroom leaders.

Thanks!

Mrs. Mikesell :)
