Run Scream!

by Kelly
(Tampa, FL)

When I first started teaching, I taught First Grade in a small Catholic school that didn't have a playlot.

So, for recess we would all pile into the parking lot and mill around.

One day I decided that the kids needed something MORE.

That's the day Run/Scream was invented.

I told the kids to take a deep breath, then run and scream as much as they could.

The last one standing was the winner.

It wore them out and they had a blast.

So, about a year ago I went back to visit those same kids who were now in 8th grade.

One of them said to me, "I get run/scream now. You just wanted us to be quiet inside!"

Viola. :)
