Professional Organizations for Teachers

There are many professional organizations, listservs, web-rings and more out there.

Join a few and see if they help you.

I am in about 15 different professional on-line discussion groups and love it. I can read about what teachers are doing all over the country and have a huge bank of people to ask questions to if need be.

The main reason to join professional groups is to "network". You need to meet great teachers to help you become a great teach. Most incredible teachers share ideas all the time, take them and use them!

Beware of groups that do not have rules, they turn into dark, ugly complaining groups pretty quick, and that is a total waste of your time.

My favorites are: Teachers.net Proteachers.net AtoZ Teacher Stuff
