Primary Literacy Centers
We agreed… we needed to change our primary literacy centers!
We were sick of sitting behind our guided reading tables, looking around our rooms and thinking, “My room’s a hot mess. There has got to be a better solution to centers.”
Our kids were clearly bored and disengaged.
We needed fast, fun and fabulously easy primary literacy centers that would keep the students occupied, entertained and learning while we directed our guided reading groups.
Our students needed more!
More choices, more fun, more independence, more challenges…
So, we surfed all the best teacher sites online - excited to see what else was out there. We were determined to find simple, easy-to-assemble centers. We found hundreds of center ideas, but none that were what our kids needed.
Frustrated and annoyed, we sat down together to decide what we would do about our center time dilemma.
We decided to create our own Primary Literacy Centers!
We wanted them to be creative, self-directed and most of all not “fluff”! We didn’t want cute, busy-work centers.
We wanted the kids to learn.
After some tears, some laughter and some total disasters… we have come up with these centers.
They are fool-proof. They work. They are what kids need to succeed, and hopefully what your kids are craving.
"Literacy Centers for Primary Grades" give you everything you need to have a year’s worth of quality centers.
We have Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade and Third Grade teachers tell us they use these centers. They are easy to modify to meet your needs.
We wrote these eBooks to help you meet your reading and writing goals and standards and have tons of fun doing it.
These eBooks are for every teacher who has ever set up, or is considering setting up, literacy centers in their classroom.
How did we start developing Primary Literacy Centers? When this year started, we felt like the children were not writing enough throughout the day. There was a need, and we had to figure out what to do.
The children were not writing often enough in centers, so we thought about having some type of graphic organizer for them to use.
Then, we took our state standards and created ideas to cover them.
Overtime, these ideas turned into Primary Literacy Centers and what we have today. A highly focused, standards based program that is easy to use and extremely fun.
