plane shapes

This unit in math we are talking about plane shapes.

One of our favorite activities was to see if we could create some plane shapes with toothpicks.

We made a rhombus, triangle, square and rectangle.

Once we had our shapes created we labeled the sides and vertices (corners).

The kids had a lot of fun making these and it was a fabulous way for them to remember the sides and vertices.

This week we have also really been focusing on our sight words.

The kids have been watching the sight word video in the morning when they come in.

We have also continued working on the sight words in our guided reading times.

The children are beginning to understand that if they know the basic words it makes reading so much easier.

Thank you!
