There are lots of websites out there that have great resources that you can download that are free or have a minimal cost. Two that spring to mind are K-3 teacher resources and sparklebox. I use them all the time!!

Curriculum NEW
by: Sarah C

You could implement a overarching theme throughout the entire semester. You could meet your standards by doing thematic based project learning. This is a great way to incoorporate Launguage Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. You could develop mini-themes based around your overarching theme. My suggestion would be to pick a country and develop projects about culture, animals, traditions, and history. I am currently a student- teacher and this works wonderfully in the school I am currently in. Good Luck!

I also am responsible for making my own curriculum, though I have state standards to follow. Check out makinglearningfun.com for center activities to download or other classroom activities.

Another suggestion NEW

Check out the Kelly's Kindergarten Website. It has great phonics things, as well as so many games to make. The reading section is Open Court, an older version. Give it a try! Good luck!

Check out the website at KinderPlans.com. You can get all kinds of ideas for free just by checking things out or you could buy a one time membership and have the whole year and more of kindergarten available for you. You should also remember to use resources at your public library for books for your class as well.
