Morning Woes - Morning Work

by Amy
(Fresno, CA)

I'm having trouble keeping kids engaged with a quality activity as soon as they come into the room.

After they arrive, hang their backpacks up, move their lunch cards, there can be anywhere from 5 to 10 minute until the principal comes on the loudspeaker with the flag salute and announcements.

Keep in mind too, that I always have a few straggler students who arrive a few minutes late. Having the students just sit and wait obviously creates many problems.

Book bins are used at other transition times, so I'd rather not use them during this short, odd time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You,
Amy
