Reading Basket
by: Megan

There are many ways to motivate kids to read during the summer.
One way that I stumbled upon recently was a reading basket where kids put there summer books as well as any reading response sheets/journals in a basket. This provides a visual of their goal for the summer.
Let them pick out a special book at the book store or on an online book store. There are alot of discount book stores online - or or are a few I use.
I know in our area that Barnes and Noble has a special reading program this summer that rewards students with a free book. What a great way to motivate and then encourage even MORE reading.

Hopefully these are helpful!!
