I usually give my students 1.5 hrs or less of homework a night, mainly in writing, grammar, spelling, and math areas. I would suggest maybe giving them short assignments/worksheets that can be done quickly as a review for science and social studies and then some practice in English- no more than 15-30 mins.

There is a general rule for elementary school homework that is cited frequently:
Grade level times ten.
First graders can have up to ten minutes of homework.
Second graders get twenty minutes.
Third graders thirty.
And so on.
Personally, I give a little less to my third graders. I assign a short math activity each night, along with 15 minutes of independent reading.
I also give the kids about 10 minutes to start their homework at the end of the day so they can ask questions or get help if necessary.
Teachers need to remember - even though homework is important, so is the child's life outside of school. Kids have scouts, sports, dance class, karate, piano lessons, and other activities. They have friends to socialize with. They have familiaes to eat dinner with. They have places to be and things to do.
Assigning hours and hours of homework can frustrate kids and parents.... and, as a result, they'll have a negative view of school.

I think you really need to talk to other teachers in China...
I think comparing American homework standards and Chinese homework standards is like comparing apples and oranges.
I know that my First Grade students in the US get about 20 minutes of homework, plus 20 minutes of reading each night.

That is crazy.
I would check with your school. We have times listed for each grade as far as the amount of time they can spend on homework each night. First grade can only spend 10 minutes each night not including their twenty minutes on reading.
I would also talk to the other teachers and see if you can decide on a plan that works so the students would have one subject each night.
My daughter is in second grade and she only has a homework packet and spelling words each night.
