Homemade Chair Pockets

by Sherie M.
(Mandeville, LA - USA)

Chair pockets

Chair pockets

I use homemade chair pockets on my 3rd grade students' desk chairs to help them stay organized.

Their desks are fairly small for all the books we have, so we use our chair pockets to hold our planners, and books for Reading Workshop.

Our planners are paperback and were always getting damaged when the kids shoved them in their desks with their textbooks.

Not anymore!

Now kids have instant access to their independent reading books.

They choose several at the beginning of the week and store them in their pockets so they don't have to go to the classroom library every day.

pattern NEW
by: Anonymous

I kind of just laid the fabric out and played around with it until it fit and I knew where I needed to sew.

I did a search though and found this pattern which is pretty much how I made mine. I used a thick canvas type material. Mine are going on 4 years now and I machine wash them each year at Christmas and during the summer.

Hope this helps.

I made something similar for a friend. What type of material did you use and do you have a pattern?
