Another one of my favorite sight word activities right now are the songs from HeidiSongs.
Heidi has taken tunes we all know and turned them into catchy little bits of sight word knowledge.
I currently have her Sing & Spell the Sight Words CD in my listening center.
The kids love to hear the songs and write the words along with her.
Just remember to put this center far away from your guided reading table otherwise you’ll be singing too!
I also use Heidi Songs CD’s as large group activities. They are great for those transition times during the day, or even indoor recess.
I choose a “Heidi Songs Teacher” to write the words under my document camera and the other kids sing and write along on their papers.
The songs are terrific and have really helped my kids learn their sight words!
I have found that even students with severe learning disabilities are starting to remember the songs and apply that knowledge to their daily activities.
Thank you Heidi for these terrific CD's and DVD's, I can't imagine teaching without them!
