Graphing with Jelly Beans

Graph with Jelly Beans

I love to teach graphing with jelly beans.

Who doesn't love a little candy now and then?

My kids can sort them by color (like in this picture), size, weight, and taste preference.

Once your students learn the procedure of working with food, this activity is a blast! I really love to do this as a math lesson on a Friday afternoon. It is high-content, but also huge fun for the kids.

A fun twist on this idea is to mix different types of small cadies or treats to sort and analyze. My personal favorites are candy hearts, cereal, and trail mix!

This also makes for a fun little snack on a holiday celebration, birthday or visitor day.
