Character Tube Puppet

by Kathy
(Warwick,NY)

After reading a great picture book together as a class the students can make a main character tube puppet at the center.

Using a cardboard paper towel, bathroom tissue or wrapping paper roll, the children are instructed to cover the roll, and cut out/glue the character's head, feet and arms and add other decorative features like the clothing, hair and eyes using a variety of materials.

The students then write answers on a personality profile which includes name of the character, book title and author, the character's problem and how it was solved.

The profile is glued to the back of the puppet. The puppet can then be shared with the whole class when completed!
