Center Pencils

by Liz Muhitch
(Arnold, MD)

Organizing simple objects such as pencils in your Literacy Centers can be a real time saver and management tool.

Every year before school begins I purchase decorated pencils to put in my centers. Each center has their own pencils that stay in that specific center all year.

For instance, I might put pencils that look like dollar bills in the Math Center or pencils that have letters on them in the ABC Center.

Then the kids know that each center has their own pencils that stay in that center.

Each center always has pencils and if they do stray from their designated spot we know right where they belong.

It may seem easy, but it is a real time saver and great management tool!

Love it NEW

This is a great idea. I often find myself running out of pencils because no matter how I mark them they still find a way to walk away. This idea will definitely tell me how my pencils are walking. I don't mind providing the students with pencils, but it does add up when I'm having to replace them constantly.

Thanks for the idea.
