Build-A-Word

by Lindsay
(Washingtonville, NY)

My literacy center is Build a Word.

I have a box of magnetic letters.

Each week I will put out the letters to form a word. The word needs to be a rather long one.

Either a vocabulary word for the week or a word that fits with or spelling pattern.

The students will have the opportunity to rearrange the letters to form new words.

They must then record the new words on the "Build A Word" sheet. These sheets can be turned in.

There are also be dictionaries at this center for students to use in finding words or checking their work.
