Board Games

Do you need more board games in your classroom? Have your students make them!

One of my students wanted to make a homework assignment for the class.

I was like, "Go for it!"

The family even typed it all up and everything!

The assignment was to create a game based on a book.

After a little modeling on my part...

And discussing games they like to play...

And talking about books that would be fun to write about...

We were ready to roll!

The first game came in today and it was awesome!

It was based on the Mo Willams book called There's a Bird on Your Head.

You know the Elephant and Piggie books, right?

My little buddy loved teaching the class how to play - he was so proud, and the kids loved playing a new game.

Mom definitely helped with the handwriting, but he knew what each space said and what they all did.

The team work to play it was so wonderful and the kids all knew how to read the words!

I ♥ this project and will try to remember to do it again next year!
