"Baggy Stories" in the Writing Center

by Rosemary George
(Marietta, GA)

I have gotten lots of pictures of people, children, and animals for the bag called "Who?".

Lots of pictures of things; balls, hopscotch, pails, swings, bikes, scooters, fishing, etc. for the "What?" bag.

Lots of pictures of places; school, home, beach, park, playground, etc. for the "Where?" bag.

Kids pick a picture out of each of the 3 bags and then think of a story to write.

They love getting their "ideas" from the picture bags, and then off and writing they go.
